Studio Velluto creates distinctive architectural, landscape and travel-inspired wall art from original photography by architect and designer Jason Watkins.
I’m Jason Watkins, architect, designer and founder of Studio Velluto.
My work is shaped by a lifelong fascination with architecture, landscapes, nature, composition and visual form. Travel—and particularly Italian art, architecture and culture—is a constant source of inspiration. Rally driving, my enthusiasm for cars and my experience as a rugby referee have also influenced how I see the world, sharpening my appreciation of movement, structure, perspective, balance and detail.
Every Studio Velluto artwork begins with an original idea or a photograph taken by me. I look for distinctive viewpoints, architectural relationships, natural textures, unusual patterns and moments of atmosphere that have the potential to become something more.
I use digital and AI-assisted techniques as part of the creative process, transforming my original photography into contemporary architectural, landscape, botanical and abstract artwork. My collections explore painterly, cubist, geometric and figurative approaches, while retaining the essential character, composition and sense of place found in the source image.
Technology is one element of the process, but the creative direction remains entirely personal. Each artwork is individually developed, reviewed and refined, with careful attention to composition, colour, tonal balance, atmosphere, texture and definition. Nothing is released until it meets Studio Velluto’s creative and technical standards.
The result is distinctive, thoughtfully composed wall art that brings character, colour and atmosphere to homes, workplaces and hospitality interiors. Many pieces can be displayed individually, while others are designed to work together as coordinated pairs, triptychs and gallery collections.
Studio Velluto sits at the meeting point of original photography, architectural observation and contemporary image-making—creating artwork with a genuine story, a strong sense of place and an architect’s eye for composition.
